Personalized home organization
Entrepreneur, mom, & wife
I’ll wait until my kids are older. I’ll wait until we’re done having kids. I’ll wait until my husband’s job calms down. These were the many things I told myself I had to wait for before I started something for myself. As a mom, it’s hard to decide when is the right time to do something else. There’s always things to do for your children!
When I started Wildely Organized, I wasn’t even sure I was ready to start a business. My oldest had just started a 5 day a week program and my youngest was going to school 3 days a week. I was sure I didn’t want anyone home full time, but I wasn’t sure if I had the time to start a whole business. Did I really want to start a business while raising young children?
Apparently I was going to start, whether I was ready or not. After organizing my sister’s kitchen and pantry, she heard from a friend whose mother was looking for a professional organizer. Do you want the job? She asked me. I couldn’t say no. So I threw together, the plan and went to the consultation. I tangentially know her, so I figured if I didn’t like it, I could finish the job and no big deal.
I absolutely loved it! I came home and told my husband that I got paid to organize for someone and how great it was. He was excited because it meant I would quit bugging him about organizing his closet! I had other people to organize.
Slowly, Wildely Organized began. I knew how to organize different spaces for people. I had friends and family that were interested in my helping them. I love getting to help people create systems in their pantries so they stop buying too much food and then letting it expires. I love helping women organize their closet so they spend less time deciding what to wear and only have items they love. I love helping new moms organize their nursery so they can spend time with their new baby rather than looking for the next size up of clothes. The organizing part is my favorite!
But I quickly realized I knew nothing about the business side, so started learning all I could. I learned about how to market myself while still remaining true to myself and how to categorize my finances so I know what to do come tax time. I surprised myself and really enjoyed learning all the business side. It’s actually fun to run a business – which I didn’t think I would enjoy.
I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients. Some want me to do everything and will pop in to declutter and let me do the rest. Others love to work alongside me and we come up with all the plans together. I love working with both kinds of clients and helping them create physical systems to improve their days.
