I get asked all the time what products do I use for which space. So, I have brought together my favorite Container Store products and which spaces I like to use them in. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list, but sometimes it’s easier to have fewer choices to help make product decisions! All the products are linked, just click the picture.
When I work in kitchen, I love for items to look good. We spend a lot of time in our kitchens, so anything out needs to look appealing. Most of these products have a bamboo look to them, but you can find similar products in different styles. Find the look that works for you!
I use the Water Hyacinth Bins often as drop zones in the kitchen to keep counters clear. It gives a nice look of a basket but is deep enough to hide items in it from plain sight. It helps keep the countertops clear.
I love the bamboo drawer organizers in the kitchen as well as the drawer dividers. Having drawer organizers in your drawers will help items stay organized, rather than just being thrown back in there. Even thrown back into an organizer looks better than thrown into a drawer.
If you don’t have a place for spices in your pantry (or don’t have a pantry), this is a great addition to a cabinet right by the stove. You can have your spices and oils handy right where you are cooking.
I love these Marie Kondo canisters. We use them for green powders, collagen and protein powder that we use every day. This way, the items that we use everyday are easily accessible but they look nice.
In the pantry, I like a clear, acrylic look. I like to be able to see everything. I have rounded up some of my favorite products for that. Cater these products to your style!
The oxo pop containers are great for decanted items. I like to decant all my items because I love the look and don’t mind decanting them. If you like the look, but don’t want to be decanting everything, just choose the items that you use the most. Some people like to just decant baking items while others prefer to see their snacks.
The iDESIGN pantry bins are great for like items. I have two on my bottom shelf for kid snacks. Typically, one is full of bars while the other one has crackers and meat sticks. The bins keep my pantry looking nice while allowing my children to see what we have. I also have a smoothie bin that I pull right out of the pantry when I make smoothies, which is almost every day. Makes it easy to keep the pantry items for my smoothies easy to reach, plus I’m all about easy for meals! I am someone who will just order meals if it’s not easy enough for me.
The Home Edit 3-tier shelf is one of my favorites for canned items. Having a can riser for your canned goods is important. You can see what you have so you’re not overbuying. Also, you can organize in a way that helps you use your cans in the correct order – using the ones that will expire first, first. Place them in the front of your can rise so that you reach for them first.
I love a good turntable! I like to use these on higher shelves to make use of the space (especially if you’re vertically challenged like I am). I can only reach so far back on a high shelf, but this gives me about half a foot of space I wouldn’t be able to reach without a step stool. When looking for turntables, make sure they have a lip on them or your items will go flying!
I love organizing closets. This is another place where people spend a lot of time. And I love having an organized space that I can find what I need quickly (and it looks nice).
Anyone who organizers their closet should get matching hangers! I love these velvet ones, but any matching hanger will do! If you organize your closet and don’t want to buy new hangers, use the kind you have the most of (that aren’t dry cleaning hangers) and get rid of the rest. And definitely get rid of the dry cleaning hangers!
If you have a closet with designated shoe space, awesome! If not, I love these shoe racks. They make your shoes look nice on the floor and add a bit of vertical space to add more shoes. These stack easily and can create more vertical space for shoes when you don’t have another spot for them.
In your drawers, take the time to find drawer dividers you like for your closet. I love these Marie Kondo drawer organizers. I think they’re so pretty. And it helps keep my drawers organized so I can see what I have.
I am not a jewelry person (I forget my wedding ring half the time), but my clients that are love these Stackers jewelry organizers. I know jewelry can get messy easily, so having a system for storing it is important. Also, it helps you see what you have so you can make time to wear everything!
Playrooms are some of my favorite spaces to organize. It’s important to have systems in here that work for parents and children. These are some of my favorite products that I have in our playroom and work well for everyone!
The clear storage bins are how we store most of the toys. We have multiple sizes and leave the top off when I want the kids to get able to get into the bins. For smaller items, like legos, I keep the top on so only my five year old can get into it and his two year old brother can’t dump them everything without our knowing. The shoe bin is perfect for a lot of toys, but the sweater bin works great for larger toys like Brio trains and blocks.
The divided turntable works great for art items. Currently, we put it on a higher shelf so we know when it’s out because that works for the ages of our children. However, my eventual plan is leave it out when all the kids are old enough so they can get to it whenever they want. And the divisions are helpful for cleaning up. It’s easy to put the markers back with the other markers.
These plastic storage bins also work well for toys. The handles are helpful for little hands to be able to carry. And there are lots of different colors. We use this for our Lovevery toys that I trade out every couple of weeks in our toy rotation.
The zipper pouches are perfect for games and puzzles. It makes them easier to store and my children can clean them up easily. The smaller ones are used for memory or card games. They keep all the pieces together easily.
Bathrooms are an overlooked place that could really be organized. This is one the first places you see when you get up, so you want it to look organized and calm to get your day started.
Personally, I love clear counters. And my bathroom has way more drawers than I need. So all of my bathroom items are in drawers. I love the Like It Modular drawer organizers for deeper drawers and the Everything drawer organizers for shallow drawers. Many times, I like to use drawer dividers, but in bathrooms, there are so many small items, drawer organizers are important. This will keep everything separated and neat.
Space under the sink is typically not utilized well. There’s more vertical space than many organizers can handle. I love these drawers for under the sink to hold back stock or less used items. Or, if you have a small bathroom and only under the sink storage, these drawers would work well to use all the space.
The Home Edit makes some great bathroom products. These small bins help divide out products to keep them even more organized. This works really well for makeup that you keep in a drawer and use everyday. Eventually, you will memorize where everything is and make your makeup routine even more efficient.
Many times, we have the desire to get organized, but we don’t know what products to use. This list should help you narrow down good products for each space to help you get organized.
